Sony 85mm f/2.8 Alpha A-Mount Standard Prime Lens

The 85mm f/2.8 Alpha A-Mount Standard Prime Lens has a fast f/2.8 wide-open aperture along with the 7-blade circular diaphragm that allows you to work in low light, and produce a beautiful soft background effect. With a minimum focus distance of 23.6" (0.6m) the lens allows you to get in close to your subject, while the internal Smooth Autofocus Motor (SAM) ensures smooth and fast autofocus operation. In addition the focus mode switch allows you to quickly switch between autofocus and manual.

This 24mm lens has the 35mm equivalent of a 36mm lens when attached to cropped APS-C cameras.

With a maximum aperture of f/2.8, and minimum aperture of f/32, the quality of this lens means you can capture faster shutter speeds, and a shallower depth of field, than lenses with higher maximum apertures.

Smooth Autofocus Motor (SAM)

Designed for fast, smooth and silent automatic focusing, Sony's unique Smooth Autofocus Motor (SAM) technology achieves high torque at low speed with rapid start/stop response. The AF control signals from the camera body are sent to the lens-mounted SAM unit, which drives the lens directly, helping to assure quick and accurate AF response.

7x Circular Aperture Blades

Circular aperture blades produce smooth, rounded bokeh background effects when capturing spot-light sources in your pictures. Because the aperture blades form a near circle at the wide openings used for low-light shots, spot-light sources have a pleasing circular defocused effect.
